Praise - Day 25

Praise God that He is strong in my weakness.


We all fall short. I think most humans are fairly aware of their failures. Some ignore them. Some don’t believe them. But I do think we know that at our core they’re there. 
I don’t believe God is surprised. 
But what He promises is that whatever weakness we carry - he can be our strength in that. Have you ever come face to face with the reality of weakness in your own life?

Some of us have addictions.
Some of us have bodies that fail us.
Some of us have weak minds.
Some of us give in to temptations.
Some of us struggle to love.
Some of us struggle to be loved.
Some of us value the wrong things.
Some of us are hurt.
Some of us are broken.
Some of us are lost.
Some of us are incapacitated by fear.


Whatever weakness we’ve encountered in ourselves. God is bigger and stronger and more powerful than our deepest darkest most shameful secret. 
His hope and strength is for ALL PEOPLE. No matter how far we’ve gone- He can always take whatever mess we’ve found ourselves in and begin to build us a new from the ashes. 
The old is gone- the new has come.

But first we need to recognise that we need that help- and accept it. When we do- He transforms us. 
I am not the same person I was 20 years ago, 10 years ago, 5 years ago... last year?
My transformation continues - as long as I have breath. Each day He shapes me more like Him as I keep my eyes on Him.
He uses the shamed the broken the hurting the lost the addicted the weak... because then His power can be made perfect in that weakness.

Burstin' With Broadway!

I've joined an awesome choir called Burstin' with Broadway. It is so much fun cause it's open to anyone that wants to be a part of a choir for fun, and all the songs that we sing are Broadway type musicals. We only meet once a week, and throughout the week we have a CD to practice with (many of the choir members actually can't read music) But it's so amazing to see how excited everyone is to be a part of this choir and how surprised they are at themselves for what they have accomplished. Somedays it's surprises me to. In the photo you will see some of the compilations we are singing this season. We will soon be singing our pieces in some elite places like the local old folks home...and our final concert will be June 10/06, at a United church in North Vancouver. Click here for the website!

The Art of Making Mistakes

  I don't know if you have ever struggled with your "bits n pieces" of art being good enough for general public viewing.  I love to draw doodley art/tangles/words... mindlessly on bits of paper especially while watching TV or listening to music.  I would never classify it as "fine" art.  I do it to relax - and because I'm  trying to slow down, I'll often make errors in the process from impatience or distraction. They are far from perfect. Not poetically beautiful. Not necessarily powerful or inspirational.  And are littered with mistakes. A few weeks ago, I saw my talented son draw a beautiful picture and half way through, throw it in the bin.  I asked him why he would throw away such a beautiful piece of work and he grunted "too many mistakes" and then "Its not how I imagined it to look." Oh boy - did I relate!   We want to hide our mistakes or start over... forget that we were so stupid to make such a big blunder in the first place.
