A great day!

Hey friends

I am still alive!! Really I am!!

I was having a bit of a hard time getting into the planning of the wedding. I realized it was mostly because of the stress of Leigh being a potential illegal alien...(he really wasn't) but that's what we called him here! My neice Evangeline (who is just loves Leigh) and I made him a special Alien cake (with 3 eyes too!) It was more to help me have a "fun" spirit about it, and not stress out. The issue was that he couldn't get his visa (they were backed up for weeks) and we needed to get a marriage licence before we were married. Their seemed to be other looming issues as well...and then yesterday happened.

Heather called from the office to let us know that Leigh's visa had arrived (hurrah!) and that gave me great vigor to get going on the rest of the plans...Now we have most everyone housed (another hurrah!) and it looks as tho we CAN have Don marry us, maybe just a temporary SK licence is all he needs - we shall find out!

The replies are coming in, so the planning is easier too. Thanks to all of you prompt on doing that! At this point we are 106 completely confirmed yes's! and there are about 20 or so Probably's and 80 no's...and about 40 question marks. I'm assuming the wedding will be around the 150 mark - which is a perfect number to me.

I will have to add another picture on the next entry as the photos are still on the camera presently.

Leigh don't worry I was almost illegal once too. got to love being aliens.

I've joined an awesome choir called Burstin' with Broadway. It is so much fun cause it's open to anyone that wants to be a part of a choir for fun, and all the songs that we sing are Broadway type musicals. We only meet once a week, and throughout the week we have a CD to practice with (many of the choir members actually can't read music) But it's so amazing to see how excited everyone is to be a part of this choir and how surprised they are at themselves for what they have accomplished. Somedays it's surprises me to. In the photo you will see some of the compilations we are singing this season. We will soon be singing our pieces in some elite places like the local old folks home...and our final concert will be June 10/06, at a United church in North Vancouver. Click here for the website!

The Art of Making Mistakes

  I don't know if you have ever struggled with your "bits n pieces" of art being good enough for general public viewing.  I love to draw doodley art/tangles/words... mindlessly on bits of paper especially while watching TV or listening to music.  I would never classify it as "fine" art.  I do it to relax - and because I'm  trying to slow down, I'll often make errors in the process from impatience or distraction. They are far from perfect. Not poetically beautiful. Not necessarily powerful or inspirational.  And are littered with mistakes. A few weeks ago, I saw my talented son draw a beautiful picture and half way through, throw it in the bin.  I asked him why he would throw away such a beautiful piece of work and he grunted "too many mistakes" and then "Its not how I imagined it to look." Oh boy - did I relate!   We want to hide our mistakes or start over... forget that we were so stupid to make such a big blunder in the first place.
