Breakfast Banter

Image
I love breakfast food. Toast, jam, pancakes, muffins, sausage, eggs, bacon - All of it! Today I made waffles in my new waffle iron (another recipe from my sister's recipe book) They were so yummy. Every night I look forward to breakfast - especially the coffee part! I went to the cupboard the other day to see if we had cereal. And it appears as though we do...Maybe we've been a bit overzealous in the cereal department. That's just my speculation. Audrey and I just had to take a picture.

The Blessing Way

Image
It is quite common to host a baby shower for someone before they have their babies, to say that you want to celebrate the new life (lives) in them, and to shower them with wonderful gifts and presents. Heather, who is carrying twins, and her husband Dave are soon leaving us in Vancouver to live in Winkler - And of course, we couldn't have her leave us without having a shower for her and her two baby boys! After much talk and consideration, we learned about "The Blessing Way". This kind of "shower" or get together, is a more serious and spiritual focus time on blessing the mother as she steps into a new phase in life - motherhood! Heather was opting for this kind of gathering rather than the games commonly done at these type of showers. So all of the YWAM women gathered together, and thanks to the hard work of Audrey and Joanna, we created cool ways to bless Heather as she stepped into this new role as "mom". We even had Wade make her a crown made ou

Blue Like Jazz

Don, our book guy, cut me an incredible deal with this book, "Blue Like Jazz" by Don Miller. It's the most refreshing book I've read in a while. Want it? I can get it for you for $5.

Burstin' With Broadway!

Image
I've joined an awesome choir called Burstin' with Broadway. It is so much fun cause it's open to anyone that wants to be a part of a choir for fun, and all the songs that we sing are Broadway type musicals. We only meet once a week, and throughout the week we have a CD to practice with (many of the choir members actually can't read music) But it's so amazing to see how excited everyone is to be a part of this choir and how surprised they are at themselves for what they have accomplished. Somedays it's surprises me to. In the photo you will see some of the compilations we are singing this season. We will soon be singing our pieces in some elite places like the local old folks home...and our final concert will be June 10/06, at a United church in North Vancouver. Click here for the website!

Longboarding in Saskatchewan

Image
You guys HAVE to check this out! My cousins filmed themselves longboarding down the coulee* hill near my parents farm in Saskatchewan clocking themselves at 40 miles/hr. Devinder was skating and Jai was filming. Crazy guys! Click here to check it out! *def of coulee:(koo'lee) n. 1. A deep gulch or ravine with sloping sides, often dry in summer. 2. YWAM Seattle

Image
Our YWAM Seattle buddies (2 families, with 4 kids) came up to meet with our Mission Adventures team this weekend to pray together with us but to also brainstorm ideas with us for the upcoming summer. They also run the same Mission Adventures program that we run here so it was great to meet and talk, and get excited about this together. We came up with some great stuff, and look forward to connecting with them again in the future. We were delighted to host Dave and Jen, and their 3 kids Drea, Corrie, and Zack as well as Phil and Amy and Emma. This is Corrie Together with some of our kids,Mike and Jenn's 3 little ones, Jonathan, Tessa, and Rebecca, and Wade and Jo's little girl Sophia, added up to a total of 8 kids 6 and under. It was a party! This is Soph and Zack THis is Drea and Jonathan Wade's birthday was on Saturday so we got him a cool rocket blender, which blends sauces and mixes and drinks really really finely. He seems to enjoy it!

All Good Things!

I have found this week to be so full of blessing, and thought I should share some of it with all of you, so that you could feel encouraged too! First, I love my husband - he is so great. I came home the other day and there was a new bouquet of flowers. Not the regular pre-made bouquets that you'd get from Safeway, but a beautiful bouquet of uniqe flowers. Thanks hon! Then, this past week I've been battling some crazy knee problems which haven't happened in ages and was really bumming me out. I came to the realization it was the shoes I was wearing walking to work everyday, so I kept trying to change them up to help keep my knee from hurting. I've wanted to buy a pair of good quality shoes for for some time but haven't been able to budget for it... Well, I went to Winners 2 days ago and found these lovely pair of shoes on the final clearance shelf - by themselves in my size. I have the same brand of boots at home and they are such great quality - Asolo's!

Children???

Image
Before I was married, I was certain, that as soon as I had that ring on my finger I'd be ready to start a family. It's funny how that's changed now that I'm married. I really enjoy being married, and love having Leigh around all the time, so I'm not feeling that need to have a child right away (even at 29!) But don't worry though cause if a little wee one came along, we'd be extremely delighted, for sure. It's just that at this point we're happy to wait, and I find that surprising for me. I've been asked a few times when Leigh and I are considering to have children, and my response has been that we'll wait as long as it takes. But now it's got me thinking about baby names ALL THE TIME!!! When I watch a movie and the credits are rolling I'm watching for interesting names. When I read people's names at work in lists, I'm scrolling for good names...When I read people's blogs...well you get the idea. However, it's
