Threes (Fours, Fives) Company...

Image
We love having company here! Since Leigh and I have returned, we have had many people over to visit. One of the things we did this week, was have a little party for our English friend Henri, and if you check out this photo you can see I made an "H" cake in honour of her. We've also been able to have good friends Dave and Heather here this week. It's fun to watch them go through this new season in their life as they anticipate the arrival of their babies...yes babies! Heather is expecting twins in June and looks just adorable! And most recently, our friend Audrey has moved in for a short while, as she prepares for what's ahead. We are so happy to have her here.

Another Busy Week!

Part I Valentine's Day As a married couple, you'd think that Valentines Day would be a holiday we'd look forward to! Weirdly enough, neither of us were particularly eager to "celebrate" the day in cupid fashion. I basically told Leigh to buy me a $5 pair of slippers and I would be very happy. Later on, I headed to the airport to pick up an old YWAM friend and staff member Renee Dueck, who had come to visit us. She has been on an across the USA Wave tour, and had ended up in New York battling cancer for the last while, so we hadn't been able to see her until now. We were so excited to have her! After picking her up, we stopped at a favourite spot - good ol' Tim Horton's and I got the regular double double. This is where I had my great Valentines idea - Are you ready for it? Yes? Well.... I got Leigh a Canadian Maple donut. Isn't that romantic? I was surprised I remembered to get him something. Anyways, we went to drop Renee's st

Donkey Days

Well we have gone back to work this week, and I honestly feel like we hit the road with our feet already running. Kind of like Wile E. Coyote, or Flintstones or something like that. Some major happenings to report tho! First being that we received our beloved BOSCH in the mail today. Now, this is the ultimate mixer - for breads, cakes, cookies, muffins, etc. And it has a blender too! In with the deal was a hand mixer from Bosch - a wonderful present from my brother and sister-n-law. I was so excited, I practically peed my pants, but opted for making pizza dough from a special homemade cookbook from home instead! It was so yummy! Later this week, we also received our Cutco "studio set" knife block to put all of our good quality knives in. That way I can stop putting my hand in the drawer and stabbing myself. I was so thrilled to receive Cutco knives but have yet to "stop" cutting my fingers - had another disaster this week and cut a tiny chunk of finger off w

The MA Conference

There is something really wrong going on with the blog site here, as this is honestly the 3rd attempt at putting this on site! It's appeared, disappeared, pictures lost, etc. So here I will try this out again! Hi there folks! Leigh and I are here in Orlando attending a Missions Adventures Conference. We have had some great teachings on Setting up your program, marketing, how to care for your staff, how to improve your program, and the why and how of this year's theme. We spent a lot of time networking with other leaders from around the world, who are also running the same missions program that we are running. It was incredibly beneficial, and extremely helpful as we continue to look at developing the program this summer!

Disneyworld

One of the perks of being at the MA conference is getting really cool gifts and prizes. This year the network decided to raise funds to send us ALL to Disneyworld for one whole day! WHOOHOO!! We were so excited. You could choose to attend one of the five Disney "worlds" on our ticket and spend the day there. We chose MGM Studios. We got up ready for a fantastic day - "the happiest celebration on earth" as the sign boasted...and were met with the horrible Liquid sunshine. That's right it rained...well actually it POURED!!!! really bad ALL Day! But that wouldn't squash our day...we trudged out in the rain and attended ALL of the events we could in one day. Actually the lines were very small, and we couldn't help but laugh at the whole mess! There weren't many rides - there seemed to be more shows or experiences instead. But my favourite was the Aerosmith Roller Coaster. Other fun events: Who wants to be a millionaire, Beauty and Beast, Indiana
