Summer Teams - Mission Adventures

Image
It's true - we actually are very busy these days. Here's some pictures of our awesome teams that we've had through here. It's exciting to see God working through them and changing their hearts as they serve people they meet on the street and in ministry centres. Our staff are incredible, and have done such a great job of serving these teams wholeheartedly. It has been such a wonderfully blessed summer so far. We still have another program week coming up the first 2 weeks of August. But for now here are our friends from: Millwood Community Chapel Washington State Check out the leaders blog for his story from his time here. Concord Korean Baptist from California Conference Baptist from Colorado Faith Assembly from Washington State Trinity Fellowship from Idaho-picture not available!

Wedded Bliss

One of my best friends got married this weekend! And it was a fabulous day. Louise looked absolutely radiant in her dress, and there was not a dry eye in the church as we watched Kurtis see his bride for the first time. It was such a touching moment. I had never been to a wedding so well organized and relaxed. Leigh and I arrived the day before to help out with the set up and found everything already done. The flowers were simple: a few orchids with some greenery, and her bouquet had some added white roses. Also, she used large planters filled with white petunias for a beautiful touch in the church. Everything was simple and gorgeous. I was honoured to be asked to be one of the bridesmaids, and asked to lead a worship song "Blessed Be Your Name" with Audrey and Ralph. This was especially special as both Ralph and Audrey are planning to move on to new things, and it was the last time we could play and sing together before they left. At the end of the night, they had a

Salad scarfer

Here is the long awaited salad post! My sister in law is the greatest salad eater of all time. so this is dedicated to her! When they came to visit us a couple months ago, I of course tried to pull up some salads that would appease her high calibre leafy pallate. I found this awesome recipe "THAI-STYLE PRAWN MANGO AND TOMATO SALAD" and I was delighted to hear the words "This might be the best salad I've ever tasted" I owe the glory to the Woman's Weekly cookbook (from aussie-land) and here I get to share it with you! More to come...as this week I happened upon a fabulous greek salad too(with tiny lil garden potatoes and dill in it!) so yummy and so so good...

Fifa Fever

I have learned so much during our first year of marriage - about Leigh, about myself, about our cultures and strengths we carry, etc. It's been incredible. Most recently I learned about Leigh's emotion. Those of you who know Leigh, know him to be a fairly even-keeled guy, not really ever on the brink of an emotional spazz or freak out. (that seems to be a "strength" that I carry in the relationship instead, not him) However, it wasn't until the Fifa World Cup started that I saw differetly. For starters, he is VERY committed to his nation - very patriotic. So when we were in Australia, and their team made it passed the qualifiers it was an experience in itself watching our family on the edge of their seats, willing the team on to the next round. It, of course came down to penalty shots at the end of the game, and I was certain, Leigh or his sister Sarah were gonna have a hernia or something. The relief I felt when they won was one of joy, not only because Au
