YWAM Seattle


Our YWAM Seattle buddies (2 families, with 4 kids) came up to meet with our Mission Adventures team this weekend to pray together with us but to also brainstorm ideas with us for the upcoming summer. They also run the same Mission Adventures program that we run here so it was great to meet and talk, and get excited about this together. We came up with some great stuff, and look forward to connecting with them again in the future. We were delighted to host Dave and Jen, and their 3 kids Drea, Corrie, and Zack as well as Phil and Amy and Emma.

Together with some of our kids,Mike and Jenn's 3 little ones, Jonathan, Tessa, and Rebecca, and Wade and Jo's little girl Sophia, added up to a total of 8 kids 6 and under. It was a party!

Wade's birthday was on Saturday so we got him a cool rocket blender, which blends sauces and mixes and drinks really really finely. He seems to enjoy it!

Burstin' With Broadway!

I've joined an awesome choir called Burstin' with Broadway. It is so much fun cause it's open to anyone that wants to be a part of a choir for fun, and all the songs that we sing are Broadway type musicals. We only meet once a week, and throughout the week we have a CD to practice with (many of the choir members actually can't read music) But it's so amazing to see how excited everyone is to be a part of this choir and how surprised they are at themselves for what they have accomplished. Somedays it's surprises me to. In the photo you will see some of the compilations we are singing this season. We will soon be singing our pieces in some elite places like the local old folks home...and our final concert will be June 10/06, at a United church in North Vancouver. Click here for the website!

The Art of Making Mistakes

  I don't know if you have ever struggled with your "bits n pieces" of art being good enough for general public viewing.  I love to draw doodley art/tangles/words... mindlessly on bits of paper especially while watching TV or listening to music.  I would never classify it as "fine" art.  I do it to relax - and because I'm  trying to slow down, I'll often make errors in the process from impatience or distraction. They are far from perfect. Not poetically beautiful. Not necessarily powerful or inspirational.  And are littered with mistakes. A few weeks ago, I saw my talented son draw a beautiful picture and half way through, throw it in the bin.  I asked him why he would throw away such a beautiful piece of work and he grunted "too many mistakes" and then "Its not how I imagined it to look." Oh boy - did I relate!   We want to hide our mistakes or start over... forget that we were so stupid to make such a big blunder in the first place.
