Happy Birthday Hubby!

HERE'S A BIRTHDAY SHOUT-OUT TO MY AWESOME, FUN, AND "EXTREMELY-GOOD-LOOKING" HUSBAND! (we just watched Zoolander again)

Leigh just turned 24 on the 18th of October. He was so excited that he was finally home for his birthday - first time in 4 years! Here's the joke, his dad was called away on an outtrip driving Semi somewhere, and his mom was called away to Horsham for work there! grrr.... can you believe it?

So we celebrated with his brothers and sister. The day started with freshly made Cinnamon buns (by me!) and then we woke him up with his presents. He got some great things, one of his favorites being a magnetic globe that just suspended in mid air. It's cool
And I got him a fancy new leatherman - THE JUICE S2 - cool!

We had Thai peanut satay chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans for supper. Along with a fabulous Mud Cake - yum! Later on, we had VB Stubbies. Not bad.

In the photo, all the balloons behind Leigh were filled with all the messages sent from YOU guys! Thank you to those that sent him birthday greetings! He was able to pop all the balloons with his brand new leatherman, and read all the good wishes from around the world!

One favorite was sent from Wade and Jo - that made him giggle for quite awhile. Funny - the same one was sent by Renee D too! So he got to giggle more...

great to hear all about your marriage adventures & celebrations. you look amazingly gorgeous at the wedding...wish i could've been there!!

anyway, i will keep checking in here to stay in the loop. hope you're enjoying yourself down under...we have to meet up sometime soon girl! i need to meet your hubby...!!!

I've joined an awesome choir called Burstin' with Broadway. It is so much fun cause it's open to anyone that wants to be a part of a choir for fun, and all the songs that we sing are Broadway type musicals. We only meet once a week, and throughout the week we have a CD to practice with (many of the choir members actually can't read music) But it's so amazing to see how excited everyone is to be a part of this choir and how surprised they are at themselves for what they have accomplished. Somedays it's surprises me to. In the photo you will see some of the compilations we are singing this season. We will soon be singing our pieces in some elite places like the local old folks home...and our final concert will be June 10/06, at a United church in North Vancouver. Click here for the website!

The Art of Making Mistakes

  I don't know if you have ever struggled with your "bits n pieces" of art being good enough for general public viewing.  I love to draw doodley art/tangles/words... mindlessly on bits of paper especially while watching TV or listening to music.  I would never classify it as "fine" art.  I do it to relax - and because I'm  trying to slow down, I'll often make errors in the process from impatience or distraction. They are far from perfect. Not poetically beautiful. Not necessarily powerful or inspirational.  And are littered with mistakes. A few weeks ago, I saw my talented son draw a beautiful picture and half way through, throw it in the bin.  I asked him why he would throw away such a beautiful piece of work and he grunted "too many mistakes" and then "Its not how I imagined it to look." Oh boy - did I relate!   We want to hide our mistakes or start over... forget that we were so stupid to make such a big blunder in the first place.
