sadly...I wish was doing a concert. I just took a picture of posters of others who had played there (like U2)

I am glad the road trip is over, only cause I know that the next steps are needing to be tackled, and I'd rather move on get them finished than still see them looming ahead of me...
so we arrive back in Vancouver on Thursday evening, and Sunday we leave again for another week to lead worship at the Go Conference in the Okanagan. Afterwards we finally return to Vancouver to host 3 teams from the Mennonite University- and Leigh will stay packed and eventually head to Cincinnatti for another 5 days..while I prepare for teaching in December and in the new year! *sigh* I see a small light at the end of the tunnel...

Burstin' With Broadway!

I've joined an awesome choir called Burstin' with Broadway. It is so much fun cause it's open to anyone that wants to be a part of a choir for fun, and all the songs that we sing are Broadway type musicals. We only meet once a week, and throughout the week we have a CD to practice with (many of the choir members actually can't read music) But it's so amazing to see how excited everyone is to be a part of this choir and how surprised they are at themselves for what they have accomplished. Somedays it's surprises me to. In the photo you will see some of the compilations we are singing this season. We will soon be singing our pieces in some elite places like the local old folks home...and our final concert will be June 10/06, at a United church in North Vancouver. Click here for the website!

The Art of Making Mistakes

  I don't know if you have ever struggled with your "bits n pieces" of art being good enough for general public viewing.  I love to draw doodley art/tangles/words... mindlessly on bits of paper especially while watching TV or listening to music.  I would never classify it as "fine" art.  I do it to relax - and because I'm  trying to slow down, I'll often make errors in the process from impatience or distraction. They are far from perfect. Not poetically beautiful. Not necessarily powerful or inspirational.  And are littered with mistakes. A few weeks ago, I saw my talented son draw a beautiful picture and half way through, throw it in the bin.  I asked him why he would throw away such a beautiful piece of work and he grunted "too many mistakes" and then "Its not how I imagined it to look." Oh boy - did I relate!   We want to hide our mistakes or start over... forget that we were so stupid to make such a big blunder in the first place.
