A Celebration of Anniversaries
Well this year was a bit more tough to get out and enjoy an amazing anniversary since I am still on bed-rest. We did manage to come up with a few fun things to do however! First, Leigh blessed me with some gorgeous flowers and earrings. Then we ventured out (as far as sitting in the car) and Leigh drove to a nearby lake where we sat and ate our lunch. We returned home for a much needed nap, and we played Uno before ordering in some Thai food and curling up to watch a movie together. It was wonderful to spend the entire day together....
I have taken some time to reminisce about our past 6 years together by rifling through the last 6 years of photos. I'm overwhelmed by all the amazing journeys and exciting adventures that Leigh and I have done - in ONLY 6 years. We have lived a lifetime already - and I'm so grateful for that! Here's a quick look at the last 5 anniversaries we celebrated.
A CELEBRATION OF ANNIVERSARIES!!!
On our 5th Anniversary - We enjoyed a day in Melbourne. Eating yummy sushi, and then returned home to enjoy watching "Tomorrow When the War Began" at the Gold Class Theatre. This is a theatre where you enjoy sitting in recliner chairs and where food and drinks are served to you throughout the movie - LOVE IT!
For our 4th Anniversary we enjoyed a lovely drive up the Great Ocean Road. We spent the night at a beautiful place in Apollo Bay. The weather was quite cold (and sometimes rainy) but it made it an even more fun adventure! When we'd see a "tourist attraction" we'd whip out of the car and snap the quickest picture possible before we'd run back to the car not wanting to get caught in the pouring rain. It really helped us to laugh a lot on this particular day. We do look a little wind-blown in this picture!
Leigh took me to the Grampians for our first Australian anniversary - our 3rd Anniversary. (click here to read the blog I wrote back then) It was beautiful weather so we did lots of hiking and sightseeing! We stayed in a nice place and even climbed the Pinnacle. The scenery was amazing!
On our 2nd Anniversary (click here to read my blog update from then) we were still living in Vancouver. I was given a gift voucher for an amazing upscale restaurant called Chambar for being a speaker at one of the summer Mission Adventures Program, so we decided to use it for our anniversary. It was the perfect anniversary dinner!
Our 1st Anniversary (click here to read the blog I wrote on that day!) in Vancouver was amazing. I called it a SKYHIGH anniversary - it was so great. Leigh booked a fancy hotel in downtown Vancouver that was so high we could overlook the city. It was magical. That evening we ate in the Revolving Restaurant - with 360 degree views of the entire city at night with the twinkling lights of the city below below us engulfed by grand and glorious mountains - and the sun setting in the distance. How gorgeous and forever memorable!
On 24 Sept 2005, Leigh and I tied the knot on my parents farm - in Saskatchewan, Canada. We had a beautiful garden wedding, and it turned out to be a nice day even though it had been pouring rain all week! We had a wonderful gathering of friends and family. I will never forget how spirit filled and fun it was -how relaxed and happy I felt, and how blown away I was to find such an amazing man of God! Every year is better and better as I see how we have built our lives and our future together on such a firm foundation- and I'm so grateful that we have. We are both so rich in love, and every year it continues to grow!
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
