Threes (Fours, Fives) Company...

We love having company here! Since Leigh and I have returned, we have had many people over to visit.

One of the things we did this week, was have a little party for our English friend Henri, and if you check out this photo you can see I made an "H" cake in honour of her.

We've also been able to have good friends Dave and Heather here this week. It's fun to watch them go through this new season in their life as they anticipate the arrival of their babies...yes babies! Heather is expecting twins in June and looks just adorable!



And most recently, our friend Audrey has moved in for a short while, as she prepares for what's ahead. We are so happy to have her here.

Burstin' With Broadway!

I've joined an awesome choir called Burstin' with Broadway. It is so much fun cause it's open to anyone that wants to be a part of a choir for fun, and all the songs that we sing are Broadway type musicals. We only meet once a week, and throughout the week we have a CD to practice with (many of the choir members actually can't read music) But it's so amazing to see how excited everyone is to be a part of this choir and how surprised they are at themselves for what they have accomplished. Somedays it's surprises me to. In the photo you will see some of the compilations we are singing this season. We will soon be singing our pieces in some elite places like the local old folks home...and our final concert will be June 10/06, at a United church in North Vancouver. Click here for the website!

The Art of Making Mistakes

  I don't know if you have ever struggled with your "bits n pieces" of art being good enough for general public viewing.  I love to draw doodley art/tangles/words... mindlessly on bits of paper especially while watching TV or listening to music.  I would never classify it as "fine" art.  I do it to relax - and because I'm  trying to slow down, I'll often make errors in the process from impatience or distraction. They are far from perfect. Not poetically beautiful. Not necessarily powerful or inspirational.  And are littered with mistakes. A few weeks ago, I saw my talented son draw a beautiful picture and half way through, throw it in the bin.  I asked him why he would throw away such a beautiful piece of work and he grunted "too many mistakes" and then "Its not how I imagined it to look." Oh boy - did I relate!   We want to hide our mistakes or start over... forget that we were so stupid to make such a big blunder in the first place.
