Lindsey - Off and Away!

Image
It was so fun this past weekend, Lindsey came through on her way through to the Philippines! For those of you who don't know Lindsey, she was a past roommate and also came on staff as my assistant for a couple of years. I am so very fond of her! She is amazing! On her way through she stopped and it was so refreshing to spend time with her. It was also great to have Kristina here to visit. Four of us (Jamie, Lindsey, Kristina, and I) went out for supper one night, and it was great to just sit and chat for hours!A few years ago, when she came on staff to work with me in mission mobilization, she had no idea of what her 5 year plan was going to be. I used to encourage my staff to have set goals and dreams to pursue. Being a mobilizer and all, it was important to me that we were always working towards something fulfilling. We spent time helping others find their passion, and helped them on the road to pursue their dreams. Through the following weeks, we spent time talking about

Good Bye 18th Street House

Image
Today was our last day at the 18th street house. Many staff and students have come and stayed here over the past few years. If only the walls could talk, I'm sure there would be some interesting stories to tell. Wow - I think that's the last of historical items around. It seems like we're saying good bye to everyone AND everything these days - although I have to admit, I've enjoyed the militant discard of items (not people, but items). I like throwing things away - there's definitely an art to it, that not many possess.

Blast from the Past

I got a call from an old friend today, Mike Wright! Amazing! Since graduating we may have only seen each other twice. That is over 10 years ago now- unbelievable! It was so awesome to connect with him again. He has moved to this area and is flying planes, and has a nice girlfriend whom we also got to meet. Mike brought me back to the days when life was so simple - and yet so complicated. Aaaah the high school years - Ya know, you'd go to school, annoy the teachers, talk about smoking and going for coffee, and discuss the latest hot gossip of who's dating who (or who wanted to date whom!). Add a flavour of "short jokes" and basketball, with a dollop of insecurity, and you'd have my high school years in a nut shell. Anyways it was so interesting talking to someone you haven't seen much since high school. Where do you start? What do you say? And think of all the changes that have happened since then. What are the most important and life changing

The Big 3- Oh!

Image
I can hardly believe the big day has come and gone - the big 3-oh! Fortunately I have been informed by many that 30 is the new 20 so, I'm doing good then!...There have been no major old age mishaps - like losing my vision, having a bad hip, arthritis, or a desire to watch Matlock - I am in good condition!!! While at home my parents/family made a great dinner and gave me a few great presents like a new calendar, the movie Big Fish, Foot lotions, etc. and some cash. It was great to spend an evening with them celebrating. Also Leigh's parents, brother, and sister sent me some money to buy a guitar so now I am looking into that a bit more to see what would suit me best. I am so blessed. With a little bit of the money that I got, I went to Canadian Tire and bought a mini drawer thing used for screws, and nails, etc. and made it into a jewelry box for all my necklaces, and earrings, etc. It's fabulous! My actual birthDAY was amazing too... It all started with some yummy eggs
